A solid 58mm tamp. The flat stainless steel base is 58mm across, sized for standard 58mm portafilter baskets, and it presses the grounds into a firm, even puck so water runs through the coffee evenly instead of finding a weak spot.
Comfortable grip. The handle is shaped to sit in your palm with your fingers resting near the base, which makes it easier to keep the tamp level from one shot to the next.
About 10 cm (4 in) tall, with a stainless steel base and a black or blue handle. Check your basket size before you order: this fits 58mm baskets, the size used on most E61 and commercial-style machines. It won't fit a Breville 54mm or De'Longhi 51mm portafilter.
